**The Role**

Reporting into the Executive Editor of NITV’s news and current affairs team the Political Correspondent will be based within the SBS Canberra Bureau in Parliament House and will be responsible for politically focused, cross-platform reporting.

NITV is committed to driving a national conversation around Indigenous Affairs and increasing the presence of Indigenous voices and perspectives in the nation's media. Through programs like The Point, Living Black and NITV News, and across our growing digital platforms, we are investigating the issues and events that impact First Nations peoples.

This is a 12 month full-time opportunity for a talented and highly motivated Journalist who's up for a challenge.

**About you**

We are looking for someone who has a passion for politics and the desire to deliver ground-breaking, original journalism. Someone who is a committed Political Correspondent who's prepared to venture beyond the daily news cycle. In addition to this the right applicant will have;
- A solid understanding of Indigenous Affairs and the broader issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Proven experience as a journalist with a good knowledge of television production techniques and the ability to deliver to deadline.
- The ability to initiate and develop story ideas with mínimal supervision and deliver to the highest editorial standard across multiple platforms as NITV's sole Political Correspondent.
- The ability to operate as a Video Journalist is preferred with a working knowledge of camera operation
- Digital editing for news is important as this role will require you to use an editing program to deliver your television stories
