**What you’ll deliver with us**

As our
**Lead Data Steward,** you’ll play a pivotal role in facilitating value-driven data management initiatives within Australia Post, that reduce the data risk, cost, and complexity of delivering data initiatives and increase the value and impact of data solutions and services for the business.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Data,

Responsibilities include coaching and support of Data Stewards and Owners to uplift data quality, build a data glossary, improve the use and value from a data catalogue and reduce data risk across the business.

The Lead Data Steward will be a key part of the Data Governance Office and actively contribute to the development and implementation of data management strategies and standards. They will also work closely with Data Stewards and Data Owners by providing technical support, guidance, and advice to assist them in understanding and navigating approvals and changes within their data domains.

**You’ll also**
- Uplift data quality, data security and drive adherence to data quality rules and data management guidelines throughout Australia Post.
- Collaborate with Data Stewards throughout the business to populate metadata and data definitions accurately and consistently in the common data catalogue.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and advice to Data Stewards and data owners, assisting them in understanding and navigating approvals and changes in data management.
- Facilitate communication between different organisational units to ensure value-driven and consistent data management across Australia Post.
- Develop and deliver data quality training programs to enhance data literacy and awareness among employees, especially Data Stewards and Owners, promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on data governance and management, progress, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership and stakeholders, highlighting achievements and areas for further enhancement.

**You’ll need**
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in data **management and stewardship**, preferably in a large-scale organization or a data-intensive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of data management principles, methodologies, and best practices, **including DMBOK and DCAM, with a proven track record of successfully improving data management maturity.**:

- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and **how these are embedded in larger organisations.**:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive change.
- The ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner. Leveraging storytelling and visualisation and adapting presentation styles to suit the audience.
- An understanding of emerging technologies, evolving data regulations, and industry-specific standards related to data management.
- Understanding customer demographics, preferences, and behaviours that influence data collection, data requirements, and data usage.
- Advancements in data management, data quality tools, and technologies that impact data quality practices.
- Familiarity with relevant external data sources and data providers that can supplement internal data sources.
