**What You Will Be Doing**
The focus of the Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Traineeship program is on creating strong relationships with local services, providing work experience in AOD service delivery, and supporting further study. The AOD Trainee will assist in the delivery of high-quality care to individuals who are seeking assistance with an alcohol or other drug issue. The trainee will undertake structured learning and on-the-job training over a 12-month period within our AOD teams. The focus will be on creating relationships within Peninsula Health and with other local AOD services, and providing the opportunity to work individually and collaboratively with AOD teams. Peninsula Health delivers AOD services in both the community and in hospital settings to improve access to treatment, retention in treatment and decrease the risk of drug-related harms (such as overdose) for people not seeking treatment, whilst waiting for treatment and post hospital discharge.

**What You Need**
We anticipate you will have:

- Certificate IV in AOD or on pathway to completing a Certificate IV or Diploma AOD.
- Knowledge and understanding of AOD theories, the biopsychosocial model, harm reduction principles and strategies.
- Developing understanding of the AOD treatment system and Harm Reduction services.
- Sound organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-direction.
