**THE ROLE**
The Community Integration Leader supports young people in Out of Home Care to build their social capital by connecting them to a volunteer mentor and to activities in their community.
Whitelion Youth is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to deliver the Community Integration Program (CIP) to connect young people aged 10-18 years residing in Out of Home Care (residential, foster and kinship care) with their local communities. This is done by focusing on activities of interest to the young people and connecting them with appropriate activities, clubs and organisations.
In this role you will:
- develop and manage relationships with young people, completing intake, finding out their interests, needs and goals and engaging them over a 12 month period
- recruit, train and supervise volunteers and facilitate the matching process of young people with mentors, providing ongoing match support
- organise and facilitate community events, building networks within the local community and leveraging connections to help the young person establish relationships beyond the care system.
The program has an interface with the care system, via Child Protection, case managers, residential care facilities and carers and is strongly linked to Anglicare in Southern Victoria.
Some out of hours (evening) work will be required to support young people and volunteers.
**ABOUT YOU**
- You have demonstrated commitment and ability to work effectively with disadvantaged young people, their carers and communities.
- You have solid knowledge of care services, and understand the issues confronting vulnerable young people, their families, and carers within out-of-home care.
- With your strong stakeholder engagement skills, you are able to form strong partnerships for the benefit of a shared goal.
- You are able to bring out the best in people with your supervisory experience and have ideally previously managed volunteers, including recruitment, training and supervision, and their ongoing development.
A current drivers license, WWCC and police check will be required.
