**About us**
An exciting opportunity exists for a Dispute Assessment Officer to join our team in Dispute Settlement Centre Victoria, part of Dispute Services.
Dispute Services is a multi-dispute agency within the Department of Justice and Community Safety which includes Dispute Settlement Centre Victoria (DSCV), and Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV).
The Fast Track Mediation and Hearing Program (FTMH) is a partnership between DSCV and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to provide expanded alternative dispute resolution services.
**About the role**
Working as an integral part of the FTMH team, the Dispute Assessment Officer will manage disputes from initial assessment onwards and will, if required, also conduct in-person mediation with both parties. Based on theoretical knowledge and practical experience, this position will assess, analyse and resolve disputes using a facilitative approach to resolution.
In this role, you will:
- conduct intake assessments, and support parties to reach a resolution whilst remaining impartial and neutral
- ensure all administrative functions are completed, recording all case documentation for appropriate capture in the case management systems
- use sound judgement to determine appropriate course of action based on evidence from all parties and relevant stakeholders pertaining to the case.
**About you**
- a working knowledge of relevant legislation and Acts
- National Mediator Accreditation and mediation experience (desirable)
- experience in dispute resolution techniques, including in the assessment of disputes, case management, and facilitative settlement
- ability to build strong relationships and develop an understanding of others in order to motivate them and confidently address conflict situations.

- **Your immunisation history statement (available via your **myGov** account)**
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
