Downer has been selected as preferred applicant to deliver Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), the largest investment in new rollingstock in Queensland history. Design, build, and maintenance of 65 brand new trains, design and build of a train manufacturing facility on Fraser Coast of Queensland, design and build of a train depot and stabling yard, a huge boost to local manufacturing and supply chain.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Manager for Specialist Equipment who will report directly to the QTMP Project Industrialisation, ensuring the Production Readiness of each asset at the Torbanlea Train Manufacturing Facility.

You will be responsible for the equipment specification, acquisition, integration, delivery, verification and the successful FAI of each product type. Additionally, you will define a balanced program to deliver Specialist Equipment and manage suppliers and stakeholders to coordinate the timely installation of the Equipment.

The Specialist Equipment Install Manager ensures that Continuous Improvement is an inherent part of the implementation process, including active engagement in the Product design review and optimisation of Equipment, Products and Processes to achieve Series Production to the required quality specification.

The Specialist Equipment Install Manager shall be responsible for the Equipment Design and Operational safety requirements with the support of the Zero Harm team.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- Meet the requirements of a Rail Safety Worker.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering would be desirable (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical, Industrial) or
- Extensive experience in Special Purpose Machine design and implementation
- Extensive Rollingstock Manufacturing experience (e.g. Carbody, Bogie)
- Technically competent with various automation technologies, including PLC, NC, RobCAD or similar.
- Technically competent with data analysis and data presentation would be desirable.

**Experience**
- 7-10 years of experience in a relevant role.
- Experience in rollingstock or heavy engineering industrial/manufacturing work environments

**Skills**
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including conducting detailed investigations and written reports.
- Performs routine assignments with relative independence and receives broad overall instruction, guidance and direction from others.
- Excellent practical understanding of the rollingstock manufacturing process.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide adequate support to management

**Knowledge**
- Profound understanding of special purpose machine, production automation technology, and railway manufacturing Equipment
- Broad experience in problem analysis and resolution, PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), training and coaching.
- Knowledge of manufacturing & quality processes.
- Understanding of human work factors and safe work practices.
