About the Australian Museum

The Australian Museum is located on the traditional homelands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. The Australian Museum acknowledges the Gadigal people as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land, sky and waterways, paying respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

The Australian Museum (AM) operating within the NSW Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the role

The Visitor Experience Hosts are responsible for developing and delivering engagement and learning experiences within Burra Learning Place and other early years and family programs. Burra is a new state-of-the-art education space that immerses visitors in Western Science and First Nations knowledges for children aged 0-14 years old and their parents, carers and teachers.

About you

Visitor Experience Hosts are the first point of contact for visitors to the Australian Museum and they represent the face of the AM. They welcome visitors and guests to the Museum in a friendly manner and enrich their experience, providing professional customer service and accurate information about ticketing, membership, exhibitions, education and public programs or are available to assist our visitors as gallery attendants or school/group greeters.

You will have strong customer service and sales skills, the ability to work under pressure with a high level of accuracy and be able to deal with difficult situations independently and appropriately.

Essential Requirements:
