**What you will do (key outcomes)**
- Provide high level advice and expertise in the case management of unsatisfactory employee performance including non-compensable injury and illness
- Establish and maintain effective early intervention, development and prevention practices with leaders across the department where unsatisfactory performance or incapacity is suspected or identified
- Effectively identify, assess and mitigate risks to employees, managers and the department in relation to the management of unsatisfactory performance and incapacity
- Ensure that individuals managing unsatisfactory performance and incapacity processes adhere to the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness and are consistent with relevant departmental polices and processes, employment legislation and common law principles
- Generate high quality reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence to, and on behalf of, senior management, departmental executives or the Minister
- Help to maintain a safe and healthy working environment by proactively reporting incidents, hazards and injuries.
**The capabilities you will bring (key competencies)**
- High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with exceptional ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse range of people, represent the department with professional competence, undertake complex negotiations and provide accurate advice on complex HR matters
- Proven ability to provide a specialised case management and consultancy service - exercising high levels of independent judgement, managing risk, recommending and implementing practical solutions to HR matters of inherent sensitivity and complexity, through the use of evidence-based decision making in a challenging and time pressured environment
- Experience in the preparation of high-quality reports, projects, briefing notes and correspondence to, and on behalf of, senior management, executive or senior government officials
- Experience in facilitating and presenting successful training and development programs to diverse groups of leaders
- A detailed knowledge of relevant government policy, employment legislation and procedures particularly in relation to the management of human resources
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to promoting and creating a safe and inclusive work environment; and the legislative requirements of Equal Opportunity and Work Health and Safety legislation.
