**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be a seasoned leader with a successful track record in managing large teams in an industrial setting. You will be responsible for planning, organising, directing and coordinating the delivery of steel fabrication in this heavy engineering business. You will be a proven professional with extensive experience in leading and supporting teams in a complex manufacturing environment.

This role is pivotal to the management of change at Alfabs. Having doubled the number employees to 300 over the previous two years, Alfabs is now setting the stage for our next growth period and this role is vital to the successful delivery of the strategic objectives.

**Key tasks & responsibilities**:

- With your proven management experience, you will be leading the production team of 50+ dedicated fabricators and trades assistants to achieve operational performance goals.
- As an industry professional, you will promote exemplary standards of safety and lead change with the full support of the SLT and ELT.
- With acute commercial acumen, you will be managing and improving all the inhouse production and manufacturing systems to ensure personnel and materials are forecast accurately and delivered on time and on budget.
- You will be partnering with the senior leadership team to advise and lead as the production expert to create accurate commercial estimates, that are cost effective for clients while maximising the company revenue capability without compromising on quality or safety.
- Where necessary, you will be confident with systems (eg. MS Office) to produce supporting reports to the Senior Leadership Team on key metrics and be confident at identifying and implementing processes to improve delivery
- Promoting and fostering a positive working culture is key so you will be adept with toolbox talks and committed to creating a cohesive working environment amongst the production teams

**Qualifications, capabilities & experience required**:

- Leadership experience running a highly efficient workshop in a heavy engineering sector, preferably within fabrication
- Relevant trade qualifications
- Experience implementing manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
