What’s the job?

Reporting to the Campus Director, you will join a team of passionate staff who are playing their part in making sure that we are here to deliver an exceptional learning experience for students.

The Café Manager manages the overall operation of the Flinders Campus Cafe while facilitating an inviting warm environment for our external customers, students and staff to TUA.

The role is responsible for all operational areas; including budget and finance, facilities management, customer service, Work Health & Safety (WH&S), management of social media and web content, stock control, suppliers, functions and rostering.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Rostering and staffing for Flinders Café and casual staff. All casual staff are to be hired from within the TUA student pool- Daily operational and financial admin- Developing and maintaining quality customer relationships with both internal and external customers- Managing the planning and execution of café occupancy, functions and events for both external and internal clients- Financial management of weekly profit and loss, restaurant revenue, expenses and banking processes- Ensure effective, ongoing relationships with suppliers including ordering goods, invoice receipt and payment in with the Campus Director and the Finance team- Stock Control and inventory management- Continuous analysis, evaluation, and tracking of operational budget- Ensure the café website and social media platforms are current at all times and drive customer loyalty and engagement; including café menu, special events and general information- Maintaining limited menu currency and keeping customers up to date with any changes- Ensure that the operational and software systems are maintained and updated on a regular basis

This is a permanent full-time role based in Melbourne at Torrens Flinders St Campus.

Indicative salary for this role is $66,950 + superannuation

Who you are

To be successful in this position you will have:
- Previous experience within a similar position- TAFE qualification or relevant hospitality, business qualification combined with relevant professional experience- Experience in supervising and leading a team, incl. mentoring and coaching- Demonstrated high level Food and Beverage Operational knowledge and experience within the broader hospitality industry context- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external stakeholders- Customer focused and able to deliver to a high level of service- Demonstrated highly developed management skills- Pro-active and highly motivated- Well-organised with the ability to prioritise and work consistently in a high workload environment- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, fluent in English- Current First Aid Certificate- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate- Knowledge of POS
