**About the role**
Join Wyndham City’s vibrant Placemaking and Activations team within the Economy, Design, and Place department, where your work will strengthen community connections and enhance public spaces across Wyndham’s Activity Centres.
This full-time role, based at our Watton Street office, focuses on delivering meaningful placemaking initiatives that foster a sense of belonging and pride in the community. With a primary focus on the Werribee City Centre, and the potential to support other activity centres, you’ll collaborate closely with traders, local businesses, and community members to create spaces and places that reflect Wyndham’s unique character and identity.
As a Placemaking Officer, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of initiatives that transform ideas into vibrant community spaces. Working alongside the Place Activator, you’ll ensure projects are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of the community and local economy.
This maternity leave position is available until March 2026, with occasional after-hours or weekend work required to support community events and activations.
**What your day will look like**
- Collaborating with traders, businesses, and community members to design and deliver welcoming, inclusive spaces.
- Planning and implementing placemaking initiatives that foster connection and support the local economy.
- Managing project budgets, including forecasting, financial reconciliation, and sourcing quotes.
- Coordinating with Council’s Communications team to promote initiatives through social media, the website, and other channels.
- Building and maintaining databases of contractors, suppliers, and performers to support program delivery.
- Supervising staff and volunteers during events and initiatives.
- Researching and identifying opportunities to enhance placemaking initiatives across Wyndham.
- Measuring and evaluating the success of initiatives, gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement.
**What you will bring**
- Demonstrated experience in placemaking, local government, or activations.
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with traders, businesses, and stakeholders to deliver shared outcomes.
- Strong project management and budgeting skills, including financial reconciliation, and reporting.
- Excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Creative and innovative thinking with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
- A passion for fostering community connections and enhancing public spaces.
