**About Us**:
The Strategy and Performance unit in the Early Childhood Division, Department of Education is responsible for policy design and strategic co-ordination and response to national and state policy agendas. It is also responsible for driving performance improvement and insights across the division to support evidence-based decision making.
**About the Role**:As the Principal Policy Officer you will**:
- Undertake research and develop responses to significant policy, initiatives, issues and risks impacting the early childhood education and care sector.
- Provide advice and develop briefings and reports for senior managers regarding the key functions of the branch.
The Principal Policy Officer reports to the relevant Manager within Early Childhood Strategy and Policy, however, will work in a flexible manner across a number of programs and projects.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Participate in the development of major reforms, briefings, reports, and that achieve improved early childhood education and care outcomes.
- Provide timely and quality advice to the Deputy Director-General, the Executive Director, and other senior officers of the department in relation to strategic issues in the early childhood education and care sector.
- Identify, analyse and progress strategic issues and participate in formulating innovative and workable solutions and strategic advice to senior managers across the division.
- Participate in programs and projects providing direction, guidance and technical assistance to teams involved.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a range of frameworks, systems and processes that include data and performance analysis, program and project management, governance and risk management, and investment and evaluation management.
