We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join us as the **Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic - Indigenous Advancement (ADVCA -IA)**. This pivotal role will offer you the opportunity to shape and influence our Indigenous Education Strategy and drive initiatives that support the engagement, experience, and success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at Curtin.

**Your new role**

In this role, you will lead with expertise and passion, providing strategic guidance and fostering strong partnerships both within and beyond the university. You will work closely with senior leaders, including the DVCA, the Centre for Aboriginal Studies, and the Deans of Indigenous Engagement across our faculties. Together, you will champion a university-wide approach that promotes Indigenous student outcomes and embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into all facets of our institution.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Strategic Leadership**: Offer expert advice to university leaders on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander higher education issues, ensuring that university policies and practices are inclusive and supportive.
- **Program Development**: Lead the creation, implementation, and evaluation of strategies, policies, and programs aimed at enhancing Indigenous education and student outcomes.
- **Community Engagement**: Build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders, ensuring that Indigenous voices are central to the design and evaluation of educational strategies and programs.
- **Reconciliation and Curriculum Integration**: Guide the university in its reconciliation commitments and work to integrate Indigenous perspectives and the Uluru Statement from the Heart into Curtin’s curricula and co-curricular programs.
- **External Representation**: Represent Curtin at State and National forums, contribute to relevant committees, and engage with external partners to influence higher education strategies for Indigenous peoples.

**Key Selection Criteria**:

- **Academic and Professional Expertise**: PhD or equivalent with significant achievements and experience in strategy development and program management.
- **Cultural Knowledge**: Deep understanding of Indigenous societies and cultures, with proven ability to engage sensitively with Indigenous stakeholders.
- **Leadership Skills**: Demonstrated capacity to lead, manage, and collaborate at a senior level within universities and broader community and industry contexts.
- **Communication**: Exceptional skills in relationship-building, negotiation, and communication in both Indigenous and non-Indigenous settings.
- **Reconciliation and Education**: Strong grasp of the Reconciliation and Indigenous Higher Education landscapes, with a track record of leading culturally sensitive and high-impact programs.
- **Community Connections**: Significant connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Western Australia.
