**Position Information**:
Oak Flats High School is located on the land of the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal Nation, on the shoreline of Lake Illawarra on the South Coast of NSW. We have an enrolment of 670 students. Our school is a diverse learning community with 14% of students identifying as Aboriginal, and 10% of students having a language background other than English, which includes 18 languages. We also have seven classes for students on the Autism spectrum and two classes for students with mental health issues. The diversity of our school ensures a rich learning environment in which students can develop empathy and understanding for all people. Catering for and celebrating this diversity is part of our commitment to ensuring every student is known, valued and cared for. The 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan priorities are focused on Aboriginal education, improvement of HSC results, improved literacy and numeracy, high expectations for learning culture and behaviour, and building belonging and aspirations. All staff are actively engaged in the implementation of projects and strategies to improve our practise in these key areas. Our school is part of the Lake Illawarra South Network, and with our partner primary schools we form the Oak Flats Learning Community. We have a comprehensive transition program commencing in Stage 2, which was recognised with the Executive Director’s Award for Innovation. We are looking for staff to join our team of passionate and inspiring teachers who are committed to improving learning outcomes for all students.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated capacity to lead a diverse HSIE faculty in the development and implementation of innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs, including new curriculum reform, to engage, challenge and inspire a wide range of learners.

2. Proven leadership skills and personal qualities to build and nurture a positive faculty culture that supports authentic relationships with all stakeholders.

3. Ability to be a dynamic member of the executive leadership team and lead evidence-based initiatives that address whole school strategic directions and nurture positive, quality relationships across the school and wider community.

4. Demonstrated experience in leading innovative strategies to create inclusive teaching and learning practices that supports a Culturally Nourishing School to improve the learning outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
