Sydney, Australia Smiths Detection Full time

The Compliance Manager, North and South Asia is responsible for all aspects of business compliance and reporting, including but not limited to; Radiation Management, Environmental Management, Workplace Health & Safety, Quality Management and Business Regulatory Reporting, in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements in Australia & New Zealand.

The role includes the establishment, review, management and maintenance of the Management Systems associated with ISO accreditation.

Duties & Responsibilities

What you'll do:

- The review, management and maintenance of Smiths Detection Australia & New Zealand Radiation Safety Management Plan(s), Environmental Management Systems, Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety Management Systems, according to the regulations of each state and federal jurisdictions, including ISO accreditation and maintenance (9001, 14001, 45001)
- Establishment and maintenance of all state and federal required company and individual licenses to possess, sell and maintain radiation apparatus and other equipment as required by legislation
- Review, improve and update internal sales and service procedures to comply with state and federal radiation regulations
- Liaise with all government regulators to ensure company compliance regarding notification of events, including but not limited to, product installation, commissioning, de-commissioning, removal, change of company associates etc.
- Maintain control, currency and calibration of Smiths Detection radiation metres and other equipment in accordance with national standards
- Manage preparation for and/or participation in a range of internal/external audits and review processes including those involving certifying bodies, regulators and other government agencies
- Manage compliance of sub-contractors working under the control of Smiths Detection and any other second party contractual arrangements
- Support preparation for and/or participation in external radiation compliance audits by the Australia Radiation Protection & Nuclear Safety Agency
- Maintain business compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions in Australia & New Zealand, including but not limited to:

- Establishment, maintenance and management of Master Security Licenses held by Smiths Detection Australia and/or New Zealand
- Establishment, management, compliance and reporting of all electrical licensing requirements for staff operating across ANZ
- Other external & internal compliance requirements as dictated by legislation or other means in Australia & New Zealand
- Establish and maintain Country Entry permits for entire range of Smiths Detection products
- Establish radiation induction plan for new employees to ensure staff are trained in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Establishing and coordinating systems for effective reporting of radiation compliance to state and federal government regulators
- Review, improve and update procedures in line with Smiths PLC, Smiths Detection Global and SDA goals, vision and directives and ensure compliance
- Identify individual and company compliance training needs and deliver and/or organise/coordinate training for the purposes of developing competency
- Manage and investigate all workplace Incidents/Injuries, Near Misses and Hazards and ensure that they are recorded according to global and local legislative requirements
- Act as the Return to Work Coordinator across ANZ
- Coordinate Emergency Management, and Contingency Planning for all locations
- Responsible for the development and management of the Business Continuity Plan
- Senior role within the ANZ WHS Committee
- Providing relevant and timely advice and support to all staff across ANZ in enhancing quality assurance and improvement processes and outcomes
- Developing & implementing consistent operating procedures and processes at all SDANZ locations
- Member of ANZ Management Team

The Individual

What you'll definitely need:

- Ideally tertiary qualified
- Keen interest in Environment, Health & Safety, Quality and Compliance issues
- Experience or involvement with interacting with government bodies to maintain compliance
- Demonstrate high level of analytical and problem solving, and systems and process development skills
- Experience or involvement in Management Systems and ISO accreditation
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as an effective member to achieve shared goals and objectives
- Ability to develop policies and procedures and facilitate their implementation
- Confident in engaging and managing relationship external and internal stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal, influential, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the business
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan, negotiate and prioritise whilst balancing competing and complex organisational needs
