**The Opportunity**

The Capital Works Team at G8 Education is responsible for executing various capital works programs, which include centre refurbishments, greenfield developments, renewal and Safety and compliance projects. The National Capital Works Manager will devise, implement, and uphold program initiatives and design standards aligned with the organisation's objectives. They will take the lead in shaping and executing these capital works programs to ensure a safe, compliant, functional, and attractive operating environment for centres. Furthermore, this role will be an integral part of the Property Leadership Team, tasked with promoting G8's culture and values and offering continuous coaching and mentorship to the team.

**Your day-to-day**

No two days are the same; this role is diverse, with depth and breadth to cement your career, now and into the future. Areas of core responsibility include Program Management, Design and planning, Reporting and risk management coupled with financial management all whilst implementing and fostering strong Team Leadership and capability. Some of the duties are, but are not limited to:

- Develop and manage programs of work across multiple sites as part of the G8 renewal program.
- Collaborate and partner with cross-functional departments, whilst managing and prioritising project outcomes.
- Work in partnership with the National Facilities team and wider property team to ensure alignment and program of works is maintained and scheduled.
- Attend sites and do require worksite validation and inspections.
- Lead, and foster a strong governance framework and business processes, ensuring works are contracted and awarded in line with G8 DOA and procurement frameworks.
- Oversee programme delivery from conception through to completion.
- Lead a positive, performing team culture to successfully grow and build team engagement, empowering the team to find solutions.
- Full responsibility of delegated budget to ensure expenditure is managed within relevant policy and budgets.
- Generate and present regular reports and develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experiences:

- 10+ years of construction or building experience.
- Tertiary qualification in construction, project management or related field desirable.
- Demonstrated skills in program management of a substantial portfolio of capital works projects.
- Demonstrated skills in contract management, procurement processes and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective processes to optimise business outcomes.
- Strong and collaborative leadership style with a proven record of managing cross-functional teams.
- Desirable if you have working knowledge of early childhood education operations requirements.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian building codes and standards.
- Good working knowledge of town planning approval processes
- Strong understanding of proper safety practices and procedures.
- High level organizational skills and with a practical, flexible and innovative approach to work to meet the needs of the business.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, a valid working with children check
