**Your role will include**:

- Answering Triple Zero (000) emergency calls for service from the Qld public in challenging situations
- Accurately recording important time critical information from callers
- Identify and allocate resources to life threatening or significant situations
- Accurately relay information to operational police officers
- Answering routine telephone requests for assistance from the public

Police Communications Operators are required to work shift work (24/7), including weekends and public holidays.

**The Communications Operator Course consists of 3 phases**:
**Phase 1 - Foundations (4 weeks)**: Onboarding and basic Incident creation.
**Phase 2 - Call Taking (7 weeks)**: Receiving 000 phone calls and complex Incident creation.
**Phase 3 - Dispatch (7 weeks)**: Continuous monitoring, channel control, officer safety, dispatching, updating and finalising incidents.
Each phase consists of classroom-based training as well as a consolidation period in the live environment where participants are supported by an experienced Communications Operator.
