Policy Risk Advisor, Policy developer

This role sits within a government organisation with a head office in Elizabeth St, NSW. You will work with one of the leading independent federal agencies in government with an excellent reputation in a highly productive team.

**Your new role**
The Agency Security Advisor is responsible for developing and maintaining assurance and oversight of protective security practices in line with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). This role is also responsible for identifying and making recommendations to mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities through policy and practice changes.

**What you'll need to succeed**
As well as in in depth understanding of Cyber security you will be required to possess the following skills/experience:

- Ensure policy and operational documents comprising Protective Security Governance Framework are current, and that they are developed in accordance with established risk management standards and an understanding of business requirements
- Manage the implementation and delivery of security function and training
- Annual PSPF assessment of the maturity of security capability
- Assist operational security with security investigations in exceptional circumstances and where there are discrepancies in policy, in accordance with Commonwealth standards and the PSPF. Assist operational security to record and report on protective security incidents
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships and team capability, share knowledge of own areas of expertise, and coach others to improve protective security function
- Understand and comply with the agency risk management framework and relevant legislation and contribute to the achievement of appropriate risk strategies. Guide others to identify and mitigate foreseeable risks.
- Ensuring business resources, processes and practices meet specific business objectives. Nurturing a risk aware culture where staff engage with agency risks. Implementing appropriate assurance strategies to mitigate and/or monitor risks to achieve positive agency outcomes.
