**About the Team**
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
**The opportunity**
Right now, we have an opportunity available for a **Community and Customer Engagement Officer** to join the Community and Place branch in the Illawarra Region of NSW, based in Wollongong.
Reporting to the Communications & Engagement Manager, your role assists with the delivery of communication and stakeholder engagement services across the Princes Highway Upgrade program. This includes providing advice and services across community engagement initiatives, customer information, internal communications and digital strategies.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, implementing and evaluating communication and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans to assist in the effective management of community information and engagement needs on Transport’s infrastructure projects and programs.
- Writing and coordinating the release of public information, including newsletters, construction updates, presentation materials, media releases and articles, website, community and stakeholder correspondence and relevant briefing materials.
- Coordinating and providing support in the delivery of events, workshops, and community consultation activities to maximise community engagement outcomes and feedback.
- Assisting in the development of advice as required, including assistance in the preparation of ministerial responses, responses to parliamentary questions, briefing notes and/or other reports.
- Identifying and assisting in the management of project risks, opportunities, or issues, and assist in the development of strategies to address these.
- Responding to enquiries/complaints, acknowledging the importance of accurate and consistent information.

**About you**
We are looking for a self-starter, collaborative and forward-thinking individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will need to be able to build rapport and develop strong stakeholder relations across multiple internal and external sources. You will need to leverage these relationships to seek the appropriate advice and information required to inform your decisions, as well as negotiate outcomes and overcome challenges.
You will have a tertiary qualification in media, communications, public relations or relevant discipline or equivalent experience, and a valid Australian motor vehicle driver licence.
You have the ability to work on multiple projects and campaigns at once, adapting statewide programs to a local level. This requires high level problem-solving skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and strong attention to detail.
Most importantly you are creative, think outside the box and look to bring a new perspective and ideas to the team. There will be plenty of opportunity to learn and develop in the role and advance your skills as you grow with the organisation.
