**Chilwell Primary School**, established in 1878 is located in Newtown, an inner Geelong suburb, nestled in a shopping precinct comprising of small retail businesses and has a current enrolment of 410. The school has catered for many generations of Geelong families and has developed close links with the local community, organisations and neighbouring preschools, secondary colleges. We have high quality specialist teaching programs in Physical Education, Visual Arts, LOTE (French) and STEM, (Science, Technology, both Design / Digital, and Mathematics) and Performing Arts.

**Selection Criteria**:
**1. Demonstrated expertise in supporting the social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of primary school-aged children.**

Proven ability to assess and respond to a broad range of student wellbeing needs using evidence-based counselling strategies. Experience working with children in a school setting and delivering individual and group-based interventions that promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive mental health outcomes.

**2. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with students, staff, and families.**

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders to support student wellbeing. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and professional reports and documentation.

**3. Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards in managing confidential information and student casework.**

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislative, ethical, and duty of care requirements when working with children, including familiarity with Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting obligations, and school-based referral processes.

**4. Capacity to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a dynamic wellbeing team to contribute to a whole-school approach to student wellbeing.**

Evidence of initiative, adaptability, and reflective practice in responding to evolving school needs. Ability to plan, prioritise and manage a counselling caseload while actively supporting the school's strategic wellbeing priorities and values.

**Role**:
2 days (15.2 hours)

Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.

Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with mínimal reference to senior management, although guidance wil
