**About Us**
At Transgrid, we keep the lights on for millions of Australians by operating and maintaining the high-voltage electricity network across NSW and the ACT. As we lead the way in Australia’s clean energy transformation, we are innovating at every level including how we use drone technology to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency in our major infrastructure projects.
**About the Role**
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking **Drone Operations Manager** to lead and manage all drone-related activity across our transmission network. In this newly created role, you will ensure safe, compliant, and high-performing drone operations across internal teams and our delivery partners. You'll develop policy, conduct flight risk assessments, lead training, and integrate drone innovation into our projects, all while shaping how drones support one of Australia’s most critical energy networks.
**About You**
- CASA-accredited Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) or equivalent, with in-depth understanding of CASA regulations, flight control systems, and emerging UAV technologies applicable to large-scale infrastructure environments
- Extensive operational experience (ideally 5+ years) across aviation, drone technology, or utility sectors, with a strong track record of deploying drone programs to support asset management, construction, or safety outcomes
- Proven leadership in drone operations, including end-to-end mission planning, certification and compliance oversight, and the development of flight operations manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Strong field coordination capability, with experience training and supervising drone operators to ensure safe, high-performance delivery in line with regulatory and project standards
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to champion innovation, influence cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in drone deployment strategies.
**Reward and Recognition**
We believe in providing our people with personal, professional, and social benefits so they can deliver their best work every day. You’ll have access to:
- Competitive remuneration and a short-term incentive program
- 20 weeks of paid parental leave
- Flexible, hybrid working arrangements that support work-life balance
- Additional leave options, including volunteering and purchased leave
- Novated leasing and employee discounts across travel, health, and wellbeing
- Wellbeing initiatives, including mental health support and fitness subsidies
- Leadership development, technical training, and career advancement pathways
- Professional membership support and paid study leave.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to lead drone operations within critical infrastructure environments. If you are passionate about UAV technology and operational excellence, we encourage you to apply
