Our client is a leading Australian-owned menswear brand, creating high quality products with integrity. Officially 'Net Zero Now' becoming Climate Active-accredited, as Australia's first fully carbon neutral fashion brand in 2021. With a 70-store network across Australia & NZ, they are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team

The Opportunity:
The primary purpose of the Buyer role is to coordinate, lead and drive the process of selection, design, purchase, production, delivery and allocations to support company growth and maximise sales and profitability.

The Buyer works within the product delivery and design teams; regularly liaises and interacts with various other internal partners as well as external partners to ensure success and growth

Key Responsibilities:

- Build balanced ranges which maximise sales & minimise markdowns
- Achieve budgeted sales & margin through monitoring sales data and stock levels though review of market opportunities and trends
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new ones for future products. Negotiate with suppliers on product pricing and payment terms
- Maximise sales opportunities by working with marketing & promotions and social networking
- Understand customer through regular store visits and customer research
- Monitor competitor activity, price position and product offer
- Work closely with the production team to ensure product is delivered to the required standard in a timely manner
- Manage the selection and design of fabrics, styles and trends with the CEO and Head Designer
- Develop, implement and manage inventory purchasing and product pricing to ensure the set GP % targets are met and a return on investment is achieved
- Work with various internal and external partners to manage and identify opportunities to move inventory within budget requirements
- Ensure that improvements in process efficiencies are identified and acted upon in an innovative and value adding manner
- Ensure all key stakeholder in the business (e.g. retail, marketing and online) are provided with all the relevant sale planning information that will assist their departments to perform to the best of their ability
- Write, communicate and implement a buying strategy and share this with key stakeholders
- Provide a quarterly analysis of performance by category and style

Skills & Experience:

- 3-4 years minimum experience in a similar Buying Role
- A strong understanding of 'right mix' buying to maximise profits
- Strategic and analytical mindset
- Has strong, logical problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of relevant market and buying knowledge
- Ability to create and further develop strong relationships with our suppliers and key stakeholders
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Very customer focused
- Outstanding communication skills
- Strong understanding of Retail and Buying Financials
- Enthusiastic and eager team player
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good presentation skills
- Highly action orientated and motivated

The position will be located at the brands' Sydney HQ.
