
Disability Support Worker

Ability Plus Disability Services specialises in the provision of client-centered in home care and community based services throughout Victoria. Our clients require support staff to assist them in home as well as within the community where required. We are looking for support workers who are passionate about providing high quality care, can be reliable and flexible, have an empathetic nature and a desire to engage people.

The role may involve:
- Assistance with community access and recreational activities
- Personal Care (showering, dressing, bowel care and toileting)
- Manual Handling and/or the use of equipment to support mobility such as wheelchairs and hoists
- Physical Therapy/Hydro support
- Transportation and supporting social engagement
- Light domestic duties such as meal preparation and cleaning.
- A genuine interest in the wellbeing and inclusion of people with disabilities
- Are a clear and strong communicator, both written and verbally
- Live locally and have flexibility with their schedule
- Professional or lived experience supporting someone with a disability
- Experience supporting people with Mental Health and Complex Behaviours
- Highly desirable but not essential: High care knowledge and experience including catheter care, bowel care (suppository and/or enema), personal care, hoisting/client transfers, and PEG feeding.
Mandatory requirements:
- The legal right to work in Australia
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid (Valid for three years) and CPR (Valid for 12 months)
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Related Qualifications (eg: Certificate in Disability, Aged Care and/or Home and Community Care)
- License and own reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance (for Community Access)
- Covid 19 Vaccination
