**Position Information**:
Bankstown Girls High School is a comprehensive secondary school established in 1960, located in Sydney's South West. The student population of 510 girls is drawn from diverse cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. While 98% of students have a non-English speaking background, 30% require some level of EAL/D (English as an additional language or dialect) support. Students participate in a wide range of learning experiences focusing on design thinking and inquiry based learning in the pursuit of academic improvement and excellence.

The school's teaching staff are highly experienced and committed to a focused approach to school excellence.

The school flourishes under the support of its culturally and linguistically diverse community. We have also fostered strong partnerships with local primary schools, universities, cultural institutions, businesses and community groups. **Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated ability to lead the Science faculty to deliver high quality teaching and learning programs, responsive curriculum implementation and resource development to cater for students of all abilities.

2. Highly developed interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community.

3. Demonstrated capacity as a visible leader, who can work collaboratively as a member of a high - functioning executive team and support the implementation of the School Plan and strategic directions.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
