The opportunity
This is a new role within the Australian team, looking after RI administration for the QBE Asia region (6 entities). The Technical Accounting Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the region’s operational accounting and reporting with a focus on streamlining and simplifying process, and preparing the regional function for transition to the new global RI Admin system (Project Aramis) as well as implementing and maintaining proper risk and control documentation over the process. As part of the Reinsurance and administration team, you will be instrumental in consistently delivering on our business objectives, whilst maintaining vital stakeholder relationships.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Perform BAU post-placement reinsurance operations and financial processes to a high standard and in accordance with entity, division, global and regulatory timetables
- Ensure that all processes and transactions are documented correctly and meet audit and management requirements, along with complying with the company policy and procedures
- Support the implementation of the team strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets
- Champion RI administration to the wider strategy and planning audience, policy, process, and procedures
- Participate as regional SME on relevant local and global projects, particularly Aramis

- Strong skills in spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures
- An excellent team player
- A high level of attention to detail
- The ability to work efficiently and effectively under time pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills: Both written and verbal
- The ability to work independently and use a high degree of initiative to resolve issues
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree
- Knowledgeable in Oracle or other general ledger systems and/or database modelling would be an advantage
