salary range: $68,122 - $97,214 (plus 15.4% super)

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking to recruit several **Cyber Security Analysts** for our IT Security Section. These are ongoing, permanent roles (either full-time or part-time) at the APS 4, APS 5 and APS 6 classification levels.

The positions are located in Brisbane (CBD), Canberra (Belconnen), Melbourne (Docklands), Perth (CBD) and Sydney (CBD), although flexible working arrangements (including a hybrid model of working from home and the office) apply.

**About the roles**

As a Cyber Security Analyst with the ABS you may undertake some or all of the following duties:

- providing advice and guidance on ICT security to ABS staff
- responding to security incidents
- identification and mitigation of system vulnerabilities
- producing and publishing security education and awareness
- supporting Cyber Security executive level staff to run and operate the section.

As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst at the APS 6 level, you will also be expected to:

- build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors
- share knowledge, experience and skills with fellow IT Security staff
- provide technical leadership to the team, educate technical staff, improve processes and mentor
junior staff
- contribute to strategic planning.

**What we are looking for (selection criteria)**

To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:

- knowledge of security standards and frameworks (Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual, NIST, ISO27001, CIS)
- familiarity with cyber security risk identification and mitigation strategies
- exposure to a broad range of ICT systems such as desktop and server operating systems, networking equipment and security solutions
- experience with cloud based ICT systems and security services
- ability to provide advice, guidance and security education to stakeholders through professional writing and presentation.

A guide to our expectations regarding the extent of an applicant’s experience and skills:
APS Level 4 Junior Cyber Security Analyst
- recent work experience in an ICT role
- completed or undertaking studies in cyber security (e.g.TAFE Cert IV in Cyber Security).

APS Level 5 Cyber Security Analyst
- recent work experience in ICT with cyber security duties/responsibilities
- demonstrated experience supporting cyber security technologies or conducting risk assessments.

APS Level 6 Senior Cyber Security Analyst
- a high degree of demonstrated technical capabilities or security risk management experience
- coaching/mentoring skills and staff and vendor management experience.
