**About The Melbourne School of Population and Global Health**

The Melbourne School of Population and Global Health aims to strengthen the understanding, capacity and services of society to meet population health needs and to improve the quality and equity of health care. It employs a population health framework that incorporates public health and preventative medicine, health promotion, clinical medicine and allied healthcare disciplines and an equity and evidence-based approach to health care and health policy. Its research programs aim to elucidate the genetic, environmental, social and economic determinants of health, and to focus on the evaluation of the health systems, programs and services that seek to prevent disease and injury and promote health.

**About the Role**

This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in leading Indigenous health research with a passionate and dedicated team. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a research background in qualitative and/or mixed methods research, particularly using action research approaches.

As a member of the NHMRC funded ‘Improving understandings of and responses to alcohol-related family violence for Aboriginal people’ team, the successful applicant will contribute to independent and team-based research aiming to develop the evidence base of alcohol misuse and family violence within Indigenous communities using innovative theoretical and methodological approaches, combining theories of medical anthropology, social network analysis (SNA) and Indigenous Studies.

Responsibilities include:

- Participating in research independently and as a member of a research team in consultation with the principal investigators
- Ownership of defined elements of the research program, coordination of research projects, conception and design of new projects
- Producing conference and seminar papers, high-quality peer-reviewed publications, and presentations at conferences and seminars, including lead authorships

**About You**

You are a highly motivated, self-driven reliable, and enthusiastic individual committed to a research career in Indigenous Health and a strong desire to build on your research career trajectory. You will have excellent organisational and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to work with multiple researchers and stakeholders to achieve successful research outcomes.

You will also have:

- A PhD qualification in a relevant discipline and appropriate research experience.
- Strong evidence of original intellectual input into research.
- Experience undertaking research with Indigenous Australian populations.
