**Your responsibilities will include**:
- **Conduct Pollen-Based Research**:Analyse sediment cores to reconstruct past vegetation and climate change using advanced statistical techniques.
- **Collaborate with Indigenous Communities**:Ensure research is culturally respectful, integrating Indigenous perspectives into all aspects of the project.
- **Contribute to Interdisciplinary Team**:Engage with climate scientists, archaeologists, and ecological modelers to advance research goals.
- **Disseminate Research Findings**: Publish in high-impact journals and present at academic and community forums.
**You may be a great fit if**:
You are a skilled paleoecologist with expertise in pollen analysis and statistical methods, committed to collaborative research that centres Indigenous knowledge and perspectives in understanding Australia's environmental history.
**You may also**:
- Hold a PhD in paleoecology, palynology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Have strong skills in statistical analysis of paleoecological time series data.
- Possess experience engaging with Indigenous communities in research contexts.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals relative to opportunity.
- Be able to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.

**Your new team - The School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences**
The School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences was formally established in 2021, following the merger of the Schools of Geography and Earth Sciences. The new School synergises discipline strengths in geography, atmospheric science and geoscience. The School offers undergraduate and graduate research programs in these core discipline areas, and in the multi-disciplinary fields of Climate Change, Environmental Science and Archaeological Science. The research within the School is built upon extensive expertise in geography, geoscience and atmospheric science, ranging from the social sciences through to the quantitative physical sciences.
In addition to internationally recognised discipline expertise, we have strengths in a number of multi-disciplinary areas including climate change; resource futures; space, place and social change; environmental hazards; Indigenous knowledge; and Earth system interactions.
