**Position Description Team Member Open Space**

**Purpose**

The Team Member Tree Maintenance will be responsible for performing maintenance and
open space works.

The primary objective of this position is maintain Councils open space assets with the key
focus on delivering efficient and effective services to the community.

The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships
with internal and external stakeholders.

As an ongoing commitment to the organisation you will be responsible for delivering the
best service to our community and to improve residents’ quality of life; continuously, smartly
and efficiently in the scope of your daily work.

**Key Deliverables**
- Maintain tree’s to Council’s standards, including tree removal, tree pruning including

shrubs, tree planting and staking.
- Maintaining Council’s tree assets by utilising the elevated platform to undertaken

clearance around low voltage power lines, as required.
- Operate minor plant and equipment to maintain Council’s reserves and surrounding

spaces, including the wood chipper and chainsaw as required.
- Provide input to the Open Spaces metrics programs and other operational programs.
- Deliver on key performance indicators as set out by the Field Supervisor Arboriculture

& Biodiversity Maintenance.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience to external clients and internal

departments.
**Person Specification**

Essential criteria
- Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
- Chain saw certificate.
- Certificate III in Arboriculture
- Work zone traffic management accreditation
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Accreditation in electro technology - power line vegetation clearance (low voltage).
- Sound knowledge of locating and working near underground and overhead services.
- Ability to be innovative, flexible and creative in determining practical solutions to
