**About the role**:

- The Organisational Writing Specialist plays a key role in enhancing the written communications skills of employees across the department.
- The position will help create a culture of clear, effective and professional communication to improve employee writings skills and confidence.
- They will lead the implementation of the writing improvement initiatives and will provide design and delivery of training, guidance and support to ensure written materials align with the organisational standards, brand, and strategic goals.
- Working closely with the Capability and Development Unit, the Organisational Writing Specialist will contribute to the department's Learning and Organisational Development strategy, determine the priority writing capability initiatives to support writing capability uplift and deliver evidence-based interventions at the organisation, team, and individual level.

**Accountabilities**:

- Able to conduct workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and group training on writing skills. Develop tailored coaching programs to meet the needs of individuals and teams across all levels of the Department.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills, using both direct and indirect strategies to gain agreement while exploring alternatives to achieve key objectives. Skilled at providing constructive feedback on writing (reports, briefs, proposals) and building relationships at all levels within the department.

**About you**:
**Qualifications/Specialist Expertise**
- A tertiary qualification in Communications, or related field and/or equivalent experience within a similar type of role is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated professional experience in the communications field, a large proportion of which will have been gained in professional communication positions in public or large private sector organisations.
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Public Service ways of working
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach and mentor individuals and groups effectively
- Strong knowledge of business writing principles, style guides and writing for government such as briefings and submissions
