APS4 Reporting Analyst / SAS / SQL / Federal Government Role

Hays Technology in Geelong are currently partnered with a Federal Government organization located in Melbourne, Victoria.
We are seeking to appoint APS4 Reporting Analyst on 12 months contract role with a view of extension. This will be a hybrid role working from home and office location
**Your new role**
Reporting to Director - Actuary. In this role you will be responsible for providing operational and administrative support that is informed and directed by sound knowledge in areas and may undertake some research and analysis activities.
**Key accountabilities**:
- Extracting, cleansing and preparing of data from multiple sources, in particular the data warehouse.
- Efficiently using relevant software.
- Updating and replication of regular performance monitoring.
- Utilising statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on a range of tasks, including monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects and cost benefit analyses.
- Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
- Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and outcomes of work undertaken
- Other duties as required
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant quantitative degree in actuarial studies, statistics, engineering, mathematics, econometrics, computer science or related field
- Experience is not essential but attention to detail and willingness to learn is needed
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Adaptable and responsive to a continuously changing environment
- Experience using SAS (preferred)/SQL/R/other programming languages and/or analytics platforms desirable, as well as experience working with large datasets
