The University of Adelaide has an international reputation for conducting world-leading research across a wide spectrum of areas. Australia’s third oldest university, Adelaide is consistently ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide.
The School of Biological Sciences is one of eight schools that comprise the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. It brings together biomedical sciences and biotechnology (biochemistry, genetics, microbiology and immunology) with evolution, ecology and environmental science. The School has over 120 FTE staff, 880 EFTSL and an annual budget of around $45 million, including $17 million in annual research income.
The University is seeking a distinguished researcher and strategic leader to take forward a School which is highly performed in research. The role provides the opportunity to collaboratively develop and lead a long term strategy which builds on existing strengths while providing opportunities for further growth and development. The new Head will also need to have the ability to work broad across the institution, particularly with the Faculty of Health and Medical Science, while further advancing national and international partnerships.
