**The Role**
Defence Travel Policy (DTP) manages a large strategic program to streamline and improve the future of travel administration within Defence; including travel policy, systems, tools, and guidance. The Defence Travel program is undergoing reform to address and resolve varying processes across the Groups and Services to move to a consistent, simple and clear approach to all travel, and improve the overall travel experience for Defence travellers.

In addition to the above, you will contribute to the following:

- Travel policy development, maintenance and updating supporting material: engage with stakeholders to research and develop policy improvements; update and/or create guidance and tools to support the effective administration of Defence travel, with an improved travellers experience at the forefront of decisions.
- Responding to level 3 travel policy queries to support Defence Travellers: including monitoring and maintaining an accurate log of queries, to identify and implement business process improvement that will improve the travel experience across Defence.
- Preparation of written correspondence to support Defence travel: Executive briefs, reports and submissions; secretariat function to the Defence Travel Board, and project progress reports.
- WoAG travel contract management: maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support Defence travel; monitoring, measuring and reporting supplier performance; identifying and communicating improvement opportunities; and support all stakeholders to meet Defence travel requirements.
- Lead and support the DTP team to meet their deliverables within the nominated timeframes and to a consistently high standard.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.

**About our Team**
The Travel Policy Directorate is responsible for the overall administration of the Official Travel Policy, associated guidance and tools used by Defence travellers to undertake travel. In addition to business as usual, we are responsible for driving reform and administration of Defence travel. The travel framework, and our remit, incorporates simplifying the end-to-end travel process; from identifying the need to travel to the final acquittal of transactions. Our business as usual activities concentrate on supporting Defence travellers to undertake official travel in the most efficient manner.

The Team:

- Provide advice to Defence travellers relating to the Official Travel policy, guidance and the usage of tools, to undertake their official travel and calculate their travel budgets accurately.
- Review, update and improve policy and associated guidance to ensure it is easy for travellers to interpret and implement.
- Consulte with key internal and external stakeholders to introduce changes, with the overall focus of improving the travel experience for Defence travellers.
- Manage Defence’s participation in the Whole of Australian Government Travel Services Arrangements.
- To achieve improvements to the overall framework the team will work with a customer centric focus, and a desire to drive innovative reform and improve the Defence travel experience.
- Experience in leading and developing a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- A focus on customer-centric, and collaborative approach to issues resolution and achieving outcomes.
- Strong people management skills, with the ability to confidently liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Ability to operate and produce high quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
