Unified Data Platform Lead

The Unified Data Platform - Lead will be responsible for the overall ownership of Avant’s Unified Data Platform (Databricks). They have responsibility for enabling a secure and reliable platform that hosts data from different business units and allows for effective stewardship of data through technology and information management capabilities. They will develop the processes and setup BAU functions and capabilities to support serving of data fit-for-purpose for Group Solutions, and other Avant business units.
**Key Accountabilities**:

- Lead a team to run and operate the Unified Data Platform (UDP).
- Lead the uplift, management, and maintenance of the UDP as well as related enterprise data.
- Oversee data ingestion, transformation, and quality control processes to ensure high data integrity.
- Collaborate with the technology strategy team to define the future roadmap for the platform.
- Work with the Avant architecture team to align to target state architecture and data standards.
- Support the data governance, compliance and security teams in implementing best practices and controls into the UDP.
- Setup the consumption stream for the platform to enable reporting solutions for business units.
- Manage access and requests from business users for data/data layers on the platforms.
- Engage with business stakeholders to scope new work and requirements to plan implementation.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to promote effective use of the platform across the organisation.
- Manage relationships with cloud providers, software vendors, and service partners.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Tertiary qualification in information science, business, engineering, information technology, computer or actuarial science or a related discipline.
- Masters Degree in relevant field or MBA (beneficial).
- Data platform-related certificates (beneficial).
- Knowledge of the insurance or financial sector (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience as a people leader and manager in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing data platforms.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading data teams
- Strong understanding of methods, processes and procedures relating to data management, platforms and governance.
