**Key Relationships**
Whilst the Principal is ultimately responsible for all staff, non-teaching staff
report to the Director of Business Operations. Functionally, the Outdoor
Education Assistant will report to the Head of Outdoor Education.

**_Position Objective:_**_ _
Outdoor Education Assistant provides essential logístical, administrative, and practical support to ensure the
smooth delivery of outdoor education programs. This role is vital in maintaining equipment, managing
resources, supporting health and safety procedures, and assisting in the planning and execution of expeditions
and camps across year-level programs.

**_Key Responsibilities_**_: _
- 1. First Aid Management
- Maintain and update the first aid kit register.
- Allocate and track student and leader first aid kits.
- Liaise with the Health Centre to coordinate student medical requirements.
- Manage student-specific medication kits pre
- and post-trip.
- Maintain and pack menstrual hygiene kits for expedition use.
- 2. Equipment Registration and Maintenance
- Maintain climbing equipment logs, including purchase dates and usage tracking.
- Manage the checkout and return of gear for trips and excursions.
- Oversee the maintenance, presentation, and storage of the climbing wall and associated gear.
- 3. Hygiene and Kitchen Kits
- Store, clean, restock, and maintain expedition hygiene kits.
- Manage kitchen kits for Year 7 and Year 8 programs, ensuring readiness for use.
- 4. Expedition Clothing Management
- Maintain the school’s supply of expedition clothing.
- Pack spare clothing for various expeditions and programs.
- Track borrowed student clothing and manage its cleaning and storage.
- 5. Communications and Technology
- Manage all communication devices and cameras used in programs.
- Charge, allocate, and store electronic equipment.
- Maintain digital photo folders from events and expeditions.
- Liaise with marketing team around publications to promote OED.
- 6. Administration
- Assist with flight bookings and travel logistics.
- Maintain the Camp Operations Manual (e.g., update dates and photos).
- Assist with creation of new materials and resources (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- 7. Food Management
- Plan, order, store, and pack food for expeditions and year-level programs (e.g., Year 7 & 8 Camps,
- WestQuest).
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the OED food storeroom.
- 8. Program Support
- Provide practical assistance during Outdoor Education programs as required.
- Support the delivery of SACE Practical Lessons, particularly in climbing and kayaking.

**_Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience_**_: _
Essential:

- Minimum Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience and interest in outdoor education or expedition logistics.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail in managing equipment, records, and resources.
- Desirable:

- Previous experience supporting school aged students in an outdoor education setting.
- Knowledge of climbing wall safety and equipment.
- Experience with food logistics or commercial kitchen supply.
- Familiarity with school health management processes.
- Industry recognised activity qualifications (bushwalking, kayaking, climbing)
- Wilderness First Aid
- Bus licence
- Special Requirements
- Availability to work flexible hours during program delivery.
- Willingness to participate in off-campus and overnight programs as needed.
