**About the Role**
Our client is seeking a technically proficient, detail-oriented **Database Administrator** to join their data structure team. You’ll ensure that databases are current, clean, and performant—supporting rapid feature development and data-driven decision-making in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- **Data Extraction & Analysis**
Extract, clean and format large datasets to turn raw information into actionable intelligence.
- **SQL Expertise**
- **Data Validation & QA**
Implement rigorous checks to guarantee data accuracy and reliability.
- **Error & Anomaly Resolution**
Respond rapidly to data‐quality alerts, investigate discrepancies and correct errors to maintain integrity.
- **Historical Data Maintenance**
Keep archival databases up-to-date, ensuring full traceability and consistency over time.
- **Change Documentation**
Log all schema or data updates; communicate modifications clearly to the team.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**
Provide feedback on reporting processes; suggest improvements to validation workflows and data pipelines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Solid experience with **Python**; familiarity with **MATLAB** is a plus
- Hands-on experience building or enhancing web-scraping tools for reliable data collection
- Degree or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a quantitative field
- Passion for diving into complex datasets and extracting clear, actionable insights
- Excellent grasp of relational database design, indexing strategies and performance tuning
- Proven ability to learn quickly, adapt to shifting requirements and work autonomously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and precision
**Additional Assets**
- Background in sports betting, racing analytics or related industries
- Understanding of racing form data, odds movements or tipping trends
