Overview:

- To provide specialist medical and strategic advice on infectious disease prevention, surveillance, and control, and outbreak management, to contribute effectively to teaching/training, research and epidemiology and evaluation; and to advise departmental Executive, Health Chief Executives Council (HCEC), the Minister and government, with a focus on tuberculosis. To represent CDCB and PHD on DHW and State committees and South Australia at national meetings on infectious diseases prevention, surveillance, and control, and outbreak management.

**Criminal History Screening Requirement**
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving ‘Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups’ is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
- A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position

**Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)**

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

**Special Conditions**
- Registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration in public health medicine.
- Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
- Some out of hours work will be required; the incumbent needs to be prepared to work out of hours and extra hours to assist filling a 24/7 roster and to support the management of notifiable diseases.
- Some intra and interstate travel may be required.
