About the Role

RMIT is seeking an executive level Strategic Market Development Advisor to lead the commercialization strategy and market expansion of CAMS - Central Asset Management System - a pioneering AI-driven SaaS platform designed to revolutionize asset management across infrastructure, engineering, and commercial property sectors.

This consulting-based leadership role offers the opportunity to validate the business model, secure market traction, and position CAMS for scale-up and potential spin-out as an independent venture. You will work closely with the dynamic and passionate CAMS team and external partners to define the product-market fit, engage with global industry players, and drive investment readiness.

CAMS has been a decade in the making, with active use cases in transportation, public infrastructure, and major corporate partnerships, including Honeywell. The platform integrates AI, IoT, and predictive analytics to optimize asset performance, enhance sustainability, and reduce operational costs. Your leadership will determine whether this technology is best positioned as a growth-stage startup, enterprise SaaS solution, or industry-partnered venture.

This role is ideal for a highly strategic and commercially savvy business leader with a deep understanding of asset management, engineering, and technology-driven market disruption.

Key Responsibilities- Business Model Validation: Refine and validate the commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with market needs and investment opportunities.- Industry Engagement: Build relationships with key stakeholders, including large-scale engineering, infrastructure, and commercial property players, to test and drive market demand.- Go-to-Market Execution: Lead the development of market entry strategies, including securing early adopters and commercial pilots.- Capital Raising & Investment Strategy: Secure funding through pre-seed investment, industry partnerships, and venture capital opportunities.- Commercial Partnerships: Negotiate high-value deals with corporate clients, global infrastructure leaders, and government agencies.- Strategic Advisory: Provide executive-level insights on whether CAMS should scale as a startup, be acquired, or partner with major industry players.- Revenue Growth & Monetization: Explore and execute commercial models to transition CAMS from a research-backed solution to a revenue-generating enterprise.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Proven leadership in commercializing SaaS or deep-tech solutions in asset management, infrastructure, or engineering.- Extensive experience in business development, market validation, and securing high-value partnerships.- A track record of raising capital, securing industry investment, or spinning out technology ventures.- Deep industry knowledge in infrastructure asset management, predictive analytics, or engineering technology.- Strong networks within the built environment, infrastructure, or property technology sectors.- Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.- Ability to work autonomously in a high-growth, agile environment, balancing commercial imperatives with strategic innovation.
