MacGregor State School is located in the Southern suburbs of Brisbane, 15 minutes from the CBD of Brisbane. Our students and their families have come to us from all over Brisbane and the world. About the Role
As the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:
Provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment, and individual support for students, addressing educational, behavioural, career, mental health, and family issues.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and build effective relationships with parents, staff, and external agencies to optimise student engagement and access to educational programs.
Assist students with decision-making in education, personal, social, and career development, offering ongoing support during implementation.
Conduct student observations and assessments to identify learning difficulties, disabilities, and emotional or psychological needs, recommending appropriate interventions.
Support the implementation of student protection, gifted and talented education, behaviour support policies, and risk management processes, including developing individual student plans.
Provide secondary school support, including SET planning, career counselling, and future pathway options.
Balance student privacy and confidentiality while adhering to legal requirements for record-keeping and sharing information.
