About the School
Queensland Children's Hospital School (QCHS) has multiple campuses across Queensland. It offers quality educational programs to school-aged students who are inpatients, outpatients, and family members of hospitalised families. Queensland Children's Hospital School provides a safe, supportive and encouraging learning environment for all students across all campuses. The Jacaranda Place campus provides education programs to young people aged 13 to 18 who are experiencing complex mental health difficulties who are either at the Jacaranda Place Adolescent Unit or the Jacaranda Place Day Program.
About the Role
This Guidance Officer should also have skills in career guidance and transition to tertiary pathways, in addition to skills in social and emotional counselling.
As a Guidance Officer, you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

- Provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students with complex mental health needs in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes
- Collaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students with complex mental health needs that are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.
