**About the Role**
The Communications and Publications Manager is a critical role within the Faculty’s Strategy, Planning and Resources team, is embedded within the Melbourne Institute department and is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the Institute’s publications and engagement strategy.

This role works closely with the Department Services Manager, Institute Director, Researchers, Melbourne Institute Professional Staff, and the Faculty of Business and Economics’ / University of Melbourne Communications and Marketing teams to raise awareness of the Melbourne Institute’s activities with a view to enhance its public profile.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Writing and/or editing a range of predominantly external facing reports, media releases, websites and other electronic media
- Developing, implementing and evaluating plans, policies and actions for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Melbourne Institute's media, publications and marketing
- Providing quarterly management reports on the effectiveness of media, publications and marketing strategies and activities

**Who We Are Looking For**
You should demonstrate experience and skills in technical writing and editing to formulate and implement effective communication/publication strategies for diverse audiences. Proven ability to use various communication channels, especially digital media and technologies, is essential for engaging customers and stakeholders in innovative initiatives. High-level problem-solving skills are crucial for exercising judgment and initiative in ambiguous environments. Excellent communication skills are necessary for building networks and engaging with relevant stakeholders, including members of the news media. Additionally, highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills are required to liaise and work effectively with individuals across all organizational levels.

You will also have:

- A degree or post-graduate qualification with substantial relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and flexibility, with a willingness to take on new challenges
- High level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads in order to ensure efficient delivery of tasks

The Strategy, Planning and Resources team provides expertise and leadership to ensure that the Faculty and its Departments achieve their strategic and operational goals and objectives. It does this by:

- Development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Faculty’s strategy and business planning
- Leading the operational management of the Faculty, its schools, and departments, research centres and institutes
- Leadership and oversight of the risk management for the Faculty within the University’s risk management policies, systems and processes
- Ensuring that the faculty efficiently and effectively allocates its teaching capability, human capital, financial resources and infrastructure to achieve the Faculty’s strategic objectives
- Leveraging the resources and capabilities of university professional shared services to enable the Faculty to deliver on its operational and strategic goals
