**Who we are**
The Assets and Infrastructure Branch provides and maintains the equipment and infrastructure to support the Australian Antarctic Program. This ranges from maintenance of existing assets through to developing or procuring new assets and capability.

The AAD Procurement Unit, within the Capital Program Support Section, is responsible for the oversight and delivery of the procurement function within the AAD, which includes:

- the development and/or implementation of procurement guidelines and procedures, and
- the provision of quality and timely advice regarding procurement and contract management of a wide range of goods and services conducted in support of Australia's Antarctic Program.

The Procurement Unit administers the procurement module of the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) for the AAD, supports end-users who use the system, and works cohesively with the department's central procurement unit that maintains the overall procurement policy framework.

**The Job**
Under broad direction from an EL1 Procurement Lead, the main duties of the role are to:

- deliver client-focussed procurement services to AAD business line-areas, including provision of advice, practical guidance and solutions on both routine and more complex procurement matters
- provide guidance and support to business-line areas to facilitate effective engagement with the department’s procurement systems
- assist with procurement planning in support of Australia’s Antarctic Program
- coordinate procurement including developing and managing tendering processes to achieve outcomes in line with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act 2013 and Commonwealth Procurement Rules
- negotiate with multiple internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers), to resolve conflicts or more complex matters, and to ensure compliance and completion of procurement activities within timeframes.

**Knowledge and experience**
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation (PGPA Act) and the Commonwealth Procurement Framework.
