- **Support children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families**

At Very Special Kids, we believe that all children and young people have the right to quality of life, no matter how long or short their life may be. We provide holistic palliative care for children with a life-limiting condition and their families. Our multidisciplinary approach includes counselling, sibling support, bereavement support and community activities, as well as respite and end of life care at Victoria’s only children’s hospice.

Every member of our team plays a vital role in the delivery of essential services to support the physical, mental and emotional needs of the children and families in our care, so they are always supported in the way they need it most - through life, death and bereavement.

Reporting to the General Manager of Business and Finance, we have a rewarding opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join us in a pivotal year of change. You will be responsible for routine preventative and general maintenance and repairs. You will be required to respond promptly to reactive maintenance requirement with a focus on the Very Special Kids House. Additionally, you will be required to liaise with external contractors where necessary to undertake specific works.

To be a success, you will bring:

- Demonstrated experience as an all-round handy person with skills in repairs and maintenance jobs
- A relevant trade qualification highly regarded
- Competent in the use of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge and understanding of Fire Emergency protocols and regulations around essential services
- Efficient time and task management skills
- Experience in managing contractors and tradespersons
- Prior experience in the not-for-profit or health sector is desirable but not essential
