- The Victorian Infectious disease reference laboratory (VIDRL) is a leading Australian Infectious disease reference laboratory located at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment as part of the Specimen Reception team, which is responsible for receiving, processing, and registering all clinical samples. As a Pathology Technician, you will support the work we do to provide an efficient Public Health diagnostic laboratory testing service for the state of Victoria. This role will be required to work Monday to Friday day shifts and participate in evening rosters (1.00pm to 9.30pm) and in a weekend rostering schedule.

**Your new role**:

- Accurately receive, process, and triage clinical samples, including data entry.
- Undertake pre and post analytical specimen handling and process samples in a timely manner, including identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens.
- Respond to sample requirements and general queries.
- Identify and resolve problems at the pre-analytical stage.
- Participate in all housekeeping laboratory duties.

- You have excellent attention to detail.
- You work well in a fast-paced environment with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks and excellent time management skills.
- You have well-developed verbal and written communication skills and provide excellent customer service.
- You are able to work closely and collaboratively within a team, with the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- You are familiar with pathology terminology and test interpretation, ideally with previous experience and exposure to medical terminology and an eagerness to expand your knowledge.
