The Salvation Army is a Child Safe Organisation and takes this commitment very seriously. Therefore, all child-facing volunteer roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. Other roles may require a police check.

Working within a commercial café facility, Café Team Members play a key role in supporting our community by providing consistent and reliable food service in a safe, welcoming place. The role assists with preparing and serving beverages and food under the guidance and support of the Café Manager. An ideal role for those who enjoy food service in a team environment.

Key responsibilities
- Meal preparation and service: With guidance and instruction from the Café Manager, Café Team Members prepare beverages and food according to the planned menu, and provide service to customers.
- Set up and clean up: With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, Team Members assist with initial set up, clearing of tables, pack up, wash up and waste disposal.

Qualifications and skills (desired/required)
- Experience in food preparation, handling and service
- Relevant food handling qualifications as required by local council authorities

Background check requirements

Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role:

Development opportunities with this role

This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in customer service, food preparation and handling.
