The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking Information Technology Coordinator to provide a critical role at HMP Baron Prison within Corrections Victoria.

About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety has just completed construction of a new maximum-security prison in Lara, Victoria. The prison is an essential part of the government's commitment to improving community safety and will be built near the existing HM Prison Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Correctional Centre. With these four prisons in close proximity, Corrections Victoria has committed to establishing the Barwon Precinct, which will see shared operating models developed between these prisons to improve prisoner outcomes and create efficiencies.
HM Prison Barwon is a maximum-security facility for men, located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the center of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne, Victoria. In this one location, the prison accommodates and supports sentenced and non-sentenced prisoners, high risk protection prisoners, high security and management prisoners and those on post-sentence orders. This makes Barwon Prison a unique location in the system, requiring specialty in the management, rehabilitation and containment of prisoners and offenders with varied needs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Operational Performance and Compliance, the Information Technology Coordinator is responsible for enabling and supporting access to technology systems and hardware for staff and prisoners at the location.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Provide technical advice and support to staff in relation to departmental and local IT systems and hardware
- Manage the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the prisoner network, prisoner computers and stand-alone systems to ensure compliance with local policy
- Coordinate local IT related projects, working with contractors and stakeholders to deliver programs of roll out, maintenance and improvement

- Demonstrated technical support expertise and ability to explain technical concepts to suit the audience.

**Qualifications**:

- Prison experience desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated experience working with management systems including Microsoft Access/Excel and SQL based data.
