Laidley State High School is a mid-sized rural high school located in the growing Lockyer Valley. About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the Science and Health & Physical Education curriculum areas within our school. You will join a committed and collaborative school leadership team consisting of the Principal, three Deputy Principals, five Heads of Departments, three Heads of Years, Head of Special Education, Guidance Officer and Business Manager.
You will be required to lead teaching staff to provide quality learning outcomes for all students, and to lead continuous school improvement aligned to our school's strategic priorities.
As an instructional leader, you will be focused on ensuring all students develop their global competencies so they can transition into the future workforce with confidence and resilience.
As such, you will be required to demonstrate your previous success with:
- The design of curriculum and cross curricula learning experiences that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum, QCAA, and AQTF
- Engaging students in skill development through authentic learning experiences.
- Engaging with the wider school community to nurture quality positive relationships between students, parents, teachers and stakeholders across the school and wider community.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the faculty to achieve goals.
**As Head of Department you will have responsibility to**:
- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals.
**Note**: These curriculum area responsibilities may change over time with consultation due to changes to the leadership structure of the school and in line with the schools' explicit improvement agenda.
