**About the opportunity**:
The Manager, Policy is responsible for providing professional leadership, management and high-level policy and technical advice on energy and mineral resource issues in South Australia.

The successful applicant will:

- Lead critical and complex policy work of the Division and Department through the research and formulation of policies and strategies that are of a significant nature.
- Deliver high-level specialist expertise and strategic advice on proposed policy reforms and existing regulatory frameworks.
- Represent the Division and participate in a range of portfolio and national working groups.
- Prepare Cabinet submissions, briefing notes, and high-level reports for senior executives and Ministers.

You are a strategic thinker and skilled communicator with a proven track record in leading policy development and reform. You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives, Ministers, and external partners.

You will have:

- Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on collaboration, performance, and team development.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in assessing and advising on policy impacts.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across diverse interest groups.
- A results-driven approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities in high-pressure environments.

The Strategic Policy and Delivery division seamlessly supports the Chief Executive and the department to provide impactful guidance on state, national and global strategic matters, shaping industry development, project implementation, and policy formulation.

The Policy team is responsible for providing a range of advice to develop priorities and policies to ensure South Australia has access to secure, reliable and cost-effective energy.

**Key Selection Criteria**:

- Knowledge and practical experience in the evaluation, development and implementation of critical and complex policies and strategies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the workings of Government, including the roles, functions and responsibilities of Government and agency structure and function.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently—both verbally and in writing—to a range of audiences and stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification or significant experience in policy development and analysis

**Remuneration**:
ASO8 salary range $121,107 - $125,679 per annum + superannuation
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week

**Special Conditions**:
This is a contract/term vacancy up to 12 months.
