Be prepared to engage flexibility in the scientific, technical and IT aspects of the position to help maintain Pathology Queensland as the preferred provider of Pathology Services for Queensland.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge, and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

- Significant experience and knowledge in the performance of pre-analytical procedures with current theoretical knowledge and understanding of general laboratory principles and procedures.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Proven advanced level communication, mentoring and training skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain a positive team culture and hold others to account for their behaviour.
- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people; and a high level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
- High level understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Minimum qualification for Health Practitioner Level 5 (HP5): The successful applicant must hold a relevant degree in science or equivalent from a recognised University or tertiary institution.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of service. Overseas applicants are reminded that assessment of equivalence of qualifications is required.
- The Central Core Laboratory delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. All newly appointed Core Laboratory staff are engaged with the understanding that they may be required to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the Core Laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
