The Western Australian Police Union of Workers (WAPU) is seeking a dedicated experienced Senior Industrial Officer responsible for providing expert industrial relations advice and solutions to WAPU Members. This role involves representing WAPU within the WAIRC and the WAIMC. The Industrial Officer collaborates closely with the WAPU leadership in negotiating WA Police Industrial Agreements to ensure the best possible outcomes for their Members.

The WA Police Union of Workers (WAPU) represents the professional and industrial interests of nearly 7,000 police officers, police recruits, cadets and police auxiliary officers employed by the WA Police Force. Covering the portfolios of; Legal, Industrial Relations, WHS, Welfare, Media, Internal Advocacy, Research, Administration and Member Services, WAPU plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the well-being of its constituents. WAPU is registered with the WA Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC) and affiliated with the Police Federation of Australia (PFA).

**About the Role**
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide high-quality, compassionate and timely industrial services to Members, including representation in relevant forums
- Development of effective IA negotiation strategies to secure the best wage increases and working conditions for WA Police Officers
- Lead and support industrial officers in resolving Member issues whist enhancing their capabilities through training and guidance
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders in government, police and other unions to promote the interests of WAPU Members\
- Stay abreast of relevant legislation and Australian industrial policing trends

**About You**
**Essential**:

- Tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law or similar
- Demonstrated IA/EA interpretation and negotiation skills
- Understanding of State and Federal industrial legislation
- Effective planning, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication and public presentation skills
- C Class drivers licence

**Desirable**:

- An understanding of policing policies, rules and regulations
- Previous experience working for a union or industry association
